Ah i see. Yes, re-read it again and i see what you were saying now... |

Yes, I have. A few days after the update came out I sent them an email explaining my problems. I am still waiting for a reply! So, a week later I called them and spoke to someone that, at first, was saying it was not a known problem. Eventually he admitted that it was already known to them and that they were (or would be) looking into it.
Garmin support is not what it used to be. |

Is it worthwhile to upgrade from version 3, or are there still problems? _________________ Dabri.

I've got no issue with the latest 4.60 firmware that didn't already exist in the 2.6 firmware it shipped with...
That's no to say there are NO issues but 4.60 doesn't suffer any of the major issues the last few firmwares introduced. |

Forgot to mention if you upgrade don't attempt to downgrade after once you go over Firmware 4.00. If you do you'll loose the Bluetooth functions and the only way to repair it is to send the unit to Garmin. |

Is it a coincidence that since I upgraded to v4.60 loading the maps takes much longer (perhaps 30 seconds now compared with 5 seconds before), and that twice (so far) my navigator (Emily) lost her voice and all her friends hid so that I had to re-boot several times to get her and them back? Has anyone else had similar problems since upgrading? _________________ Dabri.

It's no co-incidence. Whilst the 4.x update do introduce these problems they are minor niggles at best. I've only had the voice disappear once which was straight after i installed the update and the Map Loading one just becomes a minor inconvenience after a while. This morning it took 2 minutes for mine to load, just now 10 seconds. Go figure. Some people report if you goto Tools, My Data, Clear Trip Log and select Yes it helps, other say that you must not try to restart the unit if it's taking a long time to start as it makes it worse.
I find these such small issues now that i forgot about them before, however they are nowhere near as bad as the issue the earlier 4.00 firmware introduced with it randomly switching off / freezing... |

That's a funny coincidence! My 760 takes upwards of two minutes to load the maps etc and get to the first warning screen. I thought it was to do with the fact I now have my POI's on my SD card and it was having a gander at them first!
Yesterday, I could have done the first five miles before it got going!

Good point. Never tested mine without the POIs installed but then the pre 4.xx firmwares always loaded in a few seconds POIs or no POIs.... |
