I'm really interested in the Fortuna Clip-on bluetooth receiver for my ipaq 4150, but have been hearing about lots of people having their bluetooth units become faulty (not necessarily Fortuna) in a short period of time.

So just thought I'd start a poll. Smile

Personally I think its completely unacceptable if this is happening and wonder if it does happen, whether Fortuna are quick to replace it.

I don't want to be throwing away around £150

Hi Genie,

I ordered my Fortuna Clip-On on 18 March 2004 and it arrived the next day. It started to have power problems from almost day one. I’ve actually sent it back to the supplier today, 31 March 2004, for replacement with another Clip-On. As I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t me that was doing anything wrong. Smile

The power problems that I experienced are: after a full charge of the unit, I could go for a short (one to two hour) drive. Switch off the unit and park up for a few hours. When I came to start off again and switch on the unit, it (the unit) would be dead. I don’t know if it’s the battery or the unit itself that is the cause of the problem.

The technical support person I spoke to reckoned that they sell a lot of the units and have had only a few returned with problems. Well I’ll find out when Clip-On #2 arrives.

I like the idea of a battery, which can be replaced when it needs to be and that can be pulled out for an emergency reset as well. Whilst working, the Fortuna Clip-On got fixes on a decent amount of satellites. If they could sort out the power problems then they would have a great product that potentially could be a market leader. Thumbs Up

Regards,

thnx Privateer

some of the good reasons ie. replaceable battery, size, functions, and price is why this ones number one on my list.

Just don't want to go through the all the hastles of returning etc if this is a common fault.
