iNav have recently announced iGuidance 2009 Laptop and UMPC/Car PC. Laptop software solutions are much more popular in the US (no doubt because their larger cars are more able to accommodate them than ours!) and iGuidance has always been one of the top selling solutions in that market.
Although iGuidance is only available with US mapping it's worthy of a mention because of its huge popularity and any new version is sure to be of great interest. The 2009 version is currently undergoing final testing ahead of a scheduled release in week 3/4 of July and it's feature list includes:- New Navteq 2008 map!!
- Updated button colors and icons
- New graphic engine (smoother lines & better 3D performance)
- 3D realistic junction view (where available & provided by Navteq, about 2800+ junctions)
- Traffic pattern (incl ETA & ETD calculation based on historic traffic for accuracy improvement)
- Pedestrian mode (for street walking)
- On-screen help for option menus
- POI lookup by distance w/ 3 options: 5, 10, or 25 miles
- Add’l safety features (emergency, school zone alert, etc)
Pre-orders are being accepted on their website here with a list price of $99 and there will also be a PocketPC version which is scheduled for release in August.

Yes that does 'sound' odd until you consider that it can be used on a UMPC which can be hand-held. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |

Looks nice, but will it have text-to-speech without Roger?
What about speeed camera support, and will it be backwards compatible with Windows 2003?? |
