I've been hovering over the buy button for some time for a zumo 550. But I think prices are climbing now, are Garmin raising the price? The cheapest at the moment seems to be Amazon at £360 for new stock. Most other retailers are now over £400 with Pixmania (usually cheap) now listing at £458, virtualy £100 more than Amazon
You can get white box "refurbished" for £348 on ebay but somehow I don't fancy one thats been sold and returned for some reason!!
Have I missed something or should I get over to Amazon now? |

As an aside a lot of the "White Box" are not refurbished as such but are units returned to suppliers for any reason ,like "dont like the on off button, or "husband got one himself." So some are literally brand spanking new but the boxes have been opened and so they are checked and "White Boxed".
I bought a 210 this way and saved a fortune and my son has not stopped using it for a 9 months now. or was it a 310 havent seen it since I bought it so ? _________________ Asus Zenfone 2 twin sim, Garmin Zumo 550, 660 and pocketgps speed camera database

To be honest I've been thinking about the "white box" units. There are so many around that they couldn't all possibly be faulty units. In fact there seem to be more refurbished than "new" zumo's for sale!! I'm beginning to wonder if Garmin actually pretend they are refurbs to lower the price without devaluing the whole market. |

A lot of it is consumer protection, if a box has been opened ,wether the unit has been switched on or not it is no longer classed as new and has to be treated as used . SO this is where the white box comes in , the units are checked for faults and reboxed but still cant be sold as new. _________________ Asus Zenfone 2 twin sim, Garmin Zumo 550, 660 and pocketgps speed camera database
