Further to my post of a day or so ago, I have now got my TT730 T.
One thing that wasn't in the pack was a registration card.
When I got my TT1 v1 I had a credit card sized card with a registration number on it.
I needed this number to access the TomTom plus services. This time I haven't got one, so can anyone please tell me what happens with the registration?

I thought the card was primarily your MAP product registration number, rather than for Plus services.

The map authorisation and activation is now done in a different way (pretty much invisible to the user). If you were to buy a new map, it would be downloaded via "Home" while your Go was connected, and the required enrypted files are written then.

For registration, and access to plus services, you need to connect to Home and supply an email address (File / Log in).
If at all possible, do not use the same address you have used for any other TomTom.
It *is* possible to change the model registered to a particular address, but it seems fraught with difficulties and it seems beyond the capabilities of many of TomTom's support staff!

OK thanks, another thing though.
As it is a new installation, I opted to download and install the Mapshare data. After it has downloaded via TT Home, it then goes to the 'copying' phase. After a short while about 50% I get the following error:

TomTom Home cannot install the map corrections to your device [1140,14].

It then aborts and I get a lot of red error messages alongside the uninstalled items.

I also tried running chkdsk /f on the device in order to overcome possible problems when connecting Traffic module (I read about this somewhere on the forum). However it always comes back and asks if I want the device unmounted. If I reply yes, it then tells me that the device is in use!

I'm stuck on both points now. Any help please?

Close TT Home before running chkdsk, and make sure that any Explorer windows that have the TT drive open are closed.

You can also try chkdsk without the /f switch so it can check for errors without attempting to fix them - since that won't write to the drive it may not need exclusive access and will still tell you if there's a problem.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
