Garmin 60csx map for Italy questions

Hello all,

I'm a complete newbie with a Garmin 60csx. I'm planning on taking a trip to Italy in the near future where I will attempt to walk from the border of Switzerland to the Western tip of Sicily. Since I'll be walking, I would love to avoid as many dead-ends as possible, so I was trying to find out what maps I could use with Garmin that would show me not only the major highways and city roads, but rural roads as well.

It looks like Garmin only works with proprietary Garmin maps, and if so, my choices are limited.

Has anyone used the Mapsource City Navigator for Europe in less populated parts of Italy (or any other European country, for that matter)? What about the City Navigator for Italy/Greece?

Any help, links, or advice would be greatly appreciated.
