Hi
I currently use TomTom and as they seem to be moving away from the PDA market and concentrating on the standalone devices. I am thinking of switching to another satnav solution for my PDA and I like the features of igo 8.

I have a couple of questions regarding igo 8 and the i-mate 9502.

Does igo 8 work on the i-mate 9502 as its not on their list of supported devices.

How well does it work on the 9502, i.e. how smooth is the scrolling and general speed of display, and does it work with the internal GPS.

Are the maps more up to date than TomTom's.

Any comparisons with TomTom Navigator would be welcome.

I'd say there is a good chance it will work but without trying it's hard to say. All I will say is a friend of mine, with a Navman Pin 570, was impressed when she did a journey with me and asked if I would see if it worked on hers, I did and it worked, even though it's not on the list. She immediately ordered her own.

I have a Mio P350 with 400MHz processor and internal GPS, the scrolling is perfect, nice and smooth, even with 3D terrain on.

My maps are 2008.01, the latest I believe are 2008.07.

No comparison, iGO blows TT away, especially if you download Ultra Skin v5 from PDAMill which allows you to flick from screen to screen with fewer 'taps' and adds a few extra features e.g. Lane arrows.

The PGPSW database is easy to install.

If anyone is interested in iGO8 and live not too far away from the Medway Towns, I'm always willing to use my card to see if iGO can be installed on their device even if it's not shown on the compatible list. I'm sure there would be no objections from Nav'N'Go, especially as it could result in another sale for them.

Thanks Lost_Property

The lane arrows is one of the features that stands out for me in the iGo8.
Its good news that the PGPSW database works as well.

As I live in South Yorkshire the offer of the test with your card is not viable for me but thanks anyway.

At the moment the only downside I can see with iGo8 over TT is the TomTom traffic subscription service, not that it is that accurate at times anyway. I believe I could live without it anyway or obtain traffic info over the net from somewhere else.

I may just take the chance of it working on the 9502 and purchase after xmas.
