After some general advice here please, done a brief search but turned up little.
I am getting a new Tomtom after years of struggling with PDA version. After some thought its the 720 or 730, I need European mapping.
So its either the 720 for £209.99, which includes the TMC extra for free from Comet
or
The 730T, which with voucher codes is £259.99 from Halfords.
I am erring on the side of getting the latest I can afford, but by saving £50, I basically get the same machine from Comet. Alternatively any better offers, please let me know.
Please help me out here, what would you go for??

Although they are essentially the same machine, the 730 will have IQ Routing & Lane Assist included. Although these features will be added to the 720 in time, you will have to purchase new maps to use them. |

Hi bloater
A few weeks ago I was in the same position as you find yourself in now.
In the end I choose the 720 and have no regrets at all. I agree that the 730 has a few more Bells and Whistles but the 720 will navigate you across the UK and the rest of Europe just the same.
Anyway, its decision time bloater. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Having used both the 720 and 930 for a for quite some time now I would go with the IQ routes which you get with the x30 units, the 930 is the first device I have ever used that actually plans my route to work exactly the same way I would drive. This additional local knowledge is very handy, if it does this local to me it will also do the same elsewhere leading to shorter and more fuel efficiant routing.
Sure the 720 can have the newer maps installed if/ when they are made available for the device and it will include IQ routes etc. But this will cost you more in the long run - Mike |

Go with the 730, that way you get the newest maps for free and the TMC device will be the latest one, Comet don't always hold the latest stock and may well be giving you an old model just because they cannot sell them.
