It seems from reading here I can use a 16Gb card for mp3 files (although my 920t won't write to it).

Are there any limitations to bitrates at all?

is the audio out simply a mini headphone jack and all I would need to plug it in to my car audio (which has a socket for audio in) is a male to male headphone lead?

TIA

Jon

Most of my mp3 tracks are at 192KBs which sounds fine in a car, you can use the line out connection to the car deck, if you find the audio squeels a bit consider fitting a ground loop issolator in between the TomTom and car deck, Maplins sell one and it eliminates the interference very well, note not all cars suffer from this problem.

Other options are to use the built in FM transmitter to get the audio from the TomTom to the car without using wires but this can be problematic finding a frequency that is devoid of other transmissions when in large cities. The best method is to use Bluetooth audio out, but this requires a car deck that supports BT audio in the format compatible with the TomTom, my LG7700 works fine this way and provides very good audio quality.

16GB will be fine for music files as the device only has to read the data, the problem with the larger cards requires you to remove the card and use a card reader on the PC to install the files (no great shakes) if you put a map on a card larger than 4GB it will work but when the device trys to write information to the map folder it will mess up, in short music, pictures and text files are fine on the larger cards, maps are problematic - Mike

Thanks Mike,

I'll try a cable first and see how it goes. I have had enough trouble and irritation from fm transmitters in the past not to want to go there!

That's good...

At least you won't be disappointed by the Tomtom one when you try it! Laughing

Hi don't know if these devices or still available, but I was having trouble trying to find a blank frenquency to tune into for my mp3 files, when I remembered years ago I bought a car cd adapter so I could play a mini disc player through the car radio/tape player. luckily I still had it, so conected the TT720 to one end put the false tape in the radio and it works fine.
