Magellan Roadmate 800 USA map update from Magellan

I have been trying since late last year to buy the latest USA map updates from Magellan. I have fulfilled every requirement they stipulate on their site, yet am told when I try to checkout that the item is unavailable in my country.
I have the latest 2.1 firmware.
I have purchased and downloaded the European maps first.
I live in the UK which their site states is one of the requirements for purchase.
I have phoned customer support on numerous occasions, who seem as baffled as me on the subject, but promise to get back to me , and they have not.
Has anyone managed to buy/download the USA maps from them living outside the USA.
I am going again in October, so I would like to get this done before then.
Is there an alternative to the original product.
