Hi,
I brought a Garmin 760T a few months back & although the unit works well I just can't get on with it so want to move back to TT.
I have problems with the unit having slight lag when looking at the maps so the car on the map is not running in actual time like my old TT5 did so in a built up area I often miss turnings.
I am missing the vast amount of settings my old TT5 had in the menu.
Can anyone confirm that the 730T runs as fast as the old TT5 did & any general comments on this Tom Tom unit good or bad.
Thank you |

The x30 units are far better than the TTN5 or 6 running a PDA, there is no lag at all with the map position - Mike |

I have previously run TT5 and TT6.
I recently upgraded from TT6 on a Fujitsu Pocket Loox to a 730T.
I also use TT Traffic via a 3G phone
If TT8 had been released for PPC I would probably have gone for that.
Having made the plunge to an all-in-one device I am glad I did.
Route calculation is significantly faster. I really like the Text to Speech that you get with computer voices. IQ routing helps although it is not perfect. I am intending to switch to HD Traffic which was one of my main reasons for upgrading, and not switching to another product on PPC.
There are changes to the menu options and screen display as there have been with every TT upgrade. As always some are an improvement (you can show current road as well as next road), some are a step backwards (why did they have to ruin the compass?), but overall (for me) it is a big improvement over TT6. |

How do you find the Traffic alert system because that is one thing that works very well on the Garmin.
Are the maps uptodate ?
Thanks |

Maps are up to date for the places I have been so far.
I am sure you can find lots of postings that say they are out of date though.
I like the fact that you can do your own updates, and have the option of sharing others updates.
As there are only 2 companies (that I know of) that provide maps for all the Sat Navs presumably there are only two variations out there.
Similarly until HD traffic comes along there is only one source of traffic info (that I know of).
While I know some people have had issues with TMC traffic, I have only quickly tried it (and it worked) but I mainly use TT Traffic as I already had this on TT6.
My hope is that HD will be a big improvement, but until it comes along who knows? |
