Nuvi 710 and Bluetooth hands free call problem

I have a Nuvi 710 with the most recent firmware etc, however I have never been able to make hands free calls via Bluetooth and my Sony Ericsson W800i. They both connect via Bluetooth no problem and the call directory etc is downloaded to the Nuvi and I can also send and receive texts using the Nuvi (when connected via Bluetooth), no issues at all with that bit of the process. I can dial out and receive calls however there is just silence once the call is initiated and no one can hear me or me hear the person at the other end even though the call is active. If when trying to make a hands free call via the Nuvi and I press the transfer call to phone button on the Nuvi it does indeed transfer the call to the phone and all is well – I just cant seem to have a hands free conversation via the nuvi microphone.
What am I missing or doing wrong?

Can I ask another question as there are no responses to my first query, has anybody who owns a Nuvi 710, 750, 760 or 770 successfully used it with a Sony Ericsson W810i to make a hands free call?
