Hi All

I am now using the PGPS camera database and no longer subscribe to the Tomtom offering. I forgot to remove the "new camera/remove camera" from the main screen. The option to remove it is greyed out because I no longer have access to their camera database. Is there any way to remove the button from the screen or am I stuck with it? Rolling Eyes

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Where does it appear, on the map display? If so, can you disable it in QuickMenu?

Hi Darren - thanks for your reply.

The "button" in question appears on the lhs of the map screen. It is added or removed by following the Tomtom PLUS services - Safety Camera Warnings. The option to enable/disable is the bottom rhs button. This is the page that is now greyed out as my Tomtomsubscription has finished. I have a feeling that I'm stuck with it. Rolling Eyes

Ah I see. I don't use their cameras as you'd expect. There must be a way of disabling this, have you tried a reset?

Oh gawd Embarassed Could it have been more obvious! Sorry Adam!

In which case there is always the option of a re-install I suppose but I appreciate it's a sledgehammer to crack a nut!

One other idea, take a backup of 'mapsettings.cfg' in your map folder and save it to the PC or a folder on your SPV's storage card. Then delete the original .cfg file and re-start TomTom. Does the button disappear then? if not exit TomTom and copy the original file back.

Doing this will require you to re-input your cam warnings settings though so it's a trade off as to how annoying the defunct button is.

However if you wait a while, MikeA will be on the forums later and I'll bet he knows the solution if one exists!

PaulB2005s quick isn't he Laughing no solutions though Smile Considering how many posts you answer we'll say no more. Your solution is worth a try but I think I'll wait to see if MikeA can come up with anything as well. I do appreciate your input though

regards Cheers!

Pure guess, as I don't use the speed cameras from TomTom other than for a giggle from time to time, try removing the speed camera POI files from your map folder, if there are no files it might not warn about them, or offer a short cut to them as they will no longer exist.
There is some information on how to remove the Speed Camera files on the TomTom web site see Here

If the above doesn't help I would try Darrens suggestion of removal of the MapSettings.cfg file from the map folder, if that fails re-install the application to the device - Mike

Many Thanks to all replies. I sorted this by accident. I was sitting waiting for my ferry back to Scotland and fiddling with the Nav software and noticed I could download POI direct from Tomtom. Following the menu I arrived at Safety Cameras for UK. Thinking I wouldn't be able to, re subscription finished, I managed to download the cameras. When Navigator had finished whinging about my subscription, the cameras appeared, along with all the greyed out options being activated again. I removed the button from the map screen and am now a happy bunny. Laughing

Also managed to report a possible new specs site in Northern Ireland Very Happy and now appearing on the submission map. I may or may not qualify for lifetime membership but the submission system certainly works ie blue squares on my map page!

Cheers All
