I borrowed my old man's One version 3 and tried it 'dry'.
It fell off every 20 minutes or so.
I then bought myself an XL.
However, despite what the instructions may say, I moisten the mount and it hasn't fallen off in a week.
I do find that having moistened it - it is very difficult to remove.
I'm considering this:

Perhaps you shouldn't leave it a week before you try to remove it...
It might be easier if you remove the mount at least every day. |

Sorry, didn't explain that whilst I've been using it for a week without it falling off, I HAVE removed it during that week and re-applied it at times.

Unfortunately I have to report that Elastic's tactic no longer really works for me, the mount now often falls off within 90 minutes. I don't know, would it really help to scrub the glass before each use? Maybe I should try spdgps' moistening suggestion although that might turn out to be quite inconvenient.
Normally I'd be happy to buy a new lever mount but it's just annoying that Garmin units already ship with one by default...
Also, aren't there some safety considerations here? The mount falls off even during normal driving, so wouldn't it just fly off at high speed into you during a crash? And would the lever mounts be immune to this? |

Ah well sorry about that...
Still works for me though.... 
Although when the cold weather and condensation arrives I might not be laughing then...

| i don't know about the 720 mount.. i think the easyport on the 130/330 and 130S/330S is great. and convenient. |

I'd have to disagree. Almost impossible to attach to the screen with the mount attached to the device and with the device separate it's not easy to attach device to mount. Also the darned USB plug is a royal PITA to attach to the device when it's mounted on the windscreen 
A great idea that doesn't quite work IMHO.

I'm having problems with my windscreen mount, but not the problem you guys are talking about here!
My mount sticks hard and fast to the windscreen of my Seat Leon without problems.
However, the Tomtom 510 won't stay securely fastened to the mount.
Whilst driving, virtually any bumps or ruts across the road make the 510 unit bounce, and it then loses connection with the car's charging supply.
The only indication of this is the power indicator on the top-left of the unit goes off. This can be quite difficult to see in current English weather, so I've developed the habit of frequently fiddling with the unit's position on the mount until the power indicator is bright again!
Is this a commen problem, and is there a known/recommended fix?  |

It was a known issue, some claimed removing the rubber 'bump' stopper from underneath helped maintain the connection?
