apologise in advance if this has been covered before, but I’m having problems with downloading to a recently purchased Novus Rider.
I’ve clicked the driver and that seems to download. The computer/ novus port connecter engages as battery charger indicator on unit comes on. Yet when I click the update, it goes through the ports and then tells me that no port can be found. If I try again an error message comes up telling me to reboot the computer.
What am I doing wrong? The computer is not Vista based, but does have Mcfee installed.
Could I ask if others have managed the download ok; a step by step talk-through on how to do it would be a bonus.
As a final point, if the view is that the rider is no good, and the update is an ongoing problem, I can always take it back as Aldi have a no quibble returns policy. |

Im using the Novus and had no problems with the database.
I connect the unit to the pc power off and set to DL.
Start up the program then power on the unit.
Then click the update button.
Once it done i power off and leave to charge and reset the DL button to normal. |

The most likely answer is that you are not doing anything wrong!! By default (ie poor programming) the update software only searches for COM ports 1,2 and 3. A lot of PCs use other COM ports. I installed the update easily by changing the COM port manually on the Novus update screen to COM4 or COM5. Other people have had success going as high as COM9.
It's easy to change the COM port number. Look in the User Selection area of the Update Screen and you'll find it there. Highlight the COM port number and keep changing it until you find a port that works for your PC.
Good luck.

on the delta upgrade (which should be the same program) if it fails due an incorrect com port you just keep hitting the update button and the program cycles through all the available com ports automatically until it finds the right one and then remembers it. It could be the usb driver for the serial chip in the lead has not installed properly, uninstall it, reboot, install again, reboot again, and then try the upgrade? |
