POI database

I have downloaded several categories from the POI database, what I want to know is whether it is possible to download by location rather than by category. I would like (for example) to be able to download all POI in all categories within say 25 miles of my home location. At present, if I download cash point locations for a bank, I have to download them all, even ones hundreds of miles from where I live. If I was planning a holiday in the UK, I might then want to download all POI's in say Cornwall. Is this feasable, or is there some other way around this issue ?

sorry no i don't think that is possible unless you specifically make the group to your liking ,but as you more than likely seen a poi is either country wide or continent wide ,more due to number of poi's allowed on a unit ..but there is nothing stopping you opening up all the poi and editing them to your liking using ov tools here

Another option is POIEdit which will require manual editting of any files, there is no way to easily do this by download.
Unless you have a Navman with the silly 12, 000 POI location limit fail to see why you want to reduce the locations? - Mike

Hi folks,

Is there one that works on a Mac. The 2 mentioned above have .exe files.
I admit that I have not searched the forums, and appologise in advance if there is already a post covering this.

I use Poiview to look at them and it is good app. I don't think they do an edit tool though.

Like the OP said, I wouldn't mind being able to personalise my POIs.
