Hi, I have a TT One v3. I connected to TT Home as new user. Did the map guarentee update.
But all safety cameras have disappeared. I have a pamflet with a promotion code giving 12 months subscribtion to TT safety cameras. Tried entering the code to TT home site. Got the message "code invalid, or promotion expired". Device is 24 hours old and now has no safety cameras on it.
In the TT home page, under tools option\ TThome add ons, i dont get the option for safety cameras
If Im not posting in the right place for advice pls let me know where to post. Cheers for advice.

I take it you are talking about TomTom cameras. You've had the device 24 hours, but how old is it, I wonder - TomTom have not been doing those 12 month free camera subscriptions for a long time.

To activate that sort of promotion if it's giving you bother, you'll have to ring TomTom (closed until Tuesday), or start a question in the Support section of www.tomtom.com. The support questions supposedly get you a first response within 48 hours, so it might be as well to wait and join the phone support queues on Tuesday - UK phone number 0845 161 0009. Mon to Fri 08:00 to 18:30.

Next year when your "free camera year" expires, come back here and get a decent camera database.

Hi Dennis. Thanks for the help. I will come back in 12 months and get cameras here. Since i paid for TT cameras figure i'll try them and see how i get on.
Funny how just hooking my TT1 to TThome has eliminated my TT cameras, this cant be right can it. I really like the idea of being able to update cameras on the hoof and now this feature has gone, bit unhappy.

I wonder if in a year when my free subscription ends will TT remove my edit camera facility just cos i haven't continued subscription to TT cameras. If so this would be really bad, cos this is the main feature i bought the unit for. Thanks four your thoughts, really appreciate your comments.

If speed cam detection is the main reason that you bought the TT, then cut your losses and get the PGPSW cam database NOW. It is reputed to be far more up to date and accurate than the TT database. Dennis will confirm this, as he uses about 3 Devices with all sorts of databases in them. But I know that he regularly compares the TT db with the PGPSW db and finds the former wanting. Crying or Very sad Else you could end up with a shiny new NIP, your wallet relieved of considerably more than the PGPSW subscription, and a few points on your licence. No brainer????? Very Happy

I have to say this is right. I made my recommendation of coming back next year only because I thought you'd be horrified at the thought of "wasting" the 12 month subscription. Between here (Bristol) and London on M4, there are 17 cameras, according to TomTom, of which only six are correct (and even one of those is incorrectly typed, though accurately shown for speed). The other eleven are various reduced speed cameras (between 30 and 50mph) for roadworks long since ended. And there is no sign at all of Specs (Average Speed) cameras in the areas of Reading and Slough. This is the pre-installed cameras on a brand new TomTom ONE 3rd Edition, which I've only had for a week (and they are the same as were pre-installed on the GO720 I bought on 28th December - what updates? - we've had seven complete updates on ours since then).

For comparison, when you are onto TT, ask them how many cameras (just roughly, ball park figure, not precise) they have on their Database and see if it's anything like the 11,000+ on ours.

Hi Guys. I had no idea the TT service was so inadequate. I figured its uptodate and support by the huge TT network.
Reading your mails it sounds pretty conclusive, that I will have to sign up to the GPS camera db.
Presumably with my UK TT1 v3 there is available space on the tiny 512mb memory to store the cameras?

I guess just paste them into the relevant folder and they show up as POI?

You have opened my eyes, and possibly saved me licence points. Speeding is bad, but on a 250 mile journey to London is it possible on clear stretches to do 80+ and then get caught.
I will be signing up, not sure its worth contacting TT about their cameras now,as I will then have conflicting duplicate icons on screen.

The map share is a good thing. Will TT remove my ability to do my own edits in 12 months when my subscribtion ends?
Many many thanks for your valuable advice.

There are mixed opinions about MapShare (although I think everybody agrees TomTom are getting the better part of the bargain). We have yet to see what happens after 12 months - e.g. will TT ask for a subscription to be able to download any more corrections? If they do, I for one will be unlikely to subscribe, because I'm not impressed with them (other people may disagree). I would think you will continue to be able to make edits for your own use only, unless TT bring out a firmware update to disable them without subscription.
