You won't be able to edit the maps - even if you did get them downloaded. The format of the maps is proprietory. What are you trying to do? There may be other ways. _________________ Phil |

When you have it connected to your PC the map is the .img file(s). I don't have a C510 so it may be under the GARMIN directory (it is on my nuvi and Colorado). The base map will be large (depending upon your geographic content - country/continent etc)
You should be able to copy and paste this - which is advisable to do as a backup anyway.
Don't forget it's not a simple image file - it's a vector graphics file and also includes all sorts of other info (like routing nodes, POIs, TMC info...). Geographic information (eg Lat/Long are encoded).
If you are wanting to add information to the base file you can do this using free/shareware s/w readily available on the net. Take a look at cgpsMapper. This is a good starting point. Using this and other resources linked from the page I have added information (contours/footpaths) to both my nuvi660 and Colorado300. You basically add overlays by creating a second .img file which is loaded together with the basemap. _________________ Phil |

Finally I copied the files, but I can't open it with GPSMapEdit, Maps are protected..so googling I found a Garminunlocker so it unlock the map. Now I can open with GPSMAPEdit however when I put the maps on the GPS unit a message appears Can't Unlock Maps. |
