Hi guys,

A little issue from me.

After installing the speed cams database and setting my warning sounds etc, all is fine until i connect to the pc and then disconnect. After this the gatso sounds always reset themselves to the bell 1.
Mobile, specs stays as set??????

I disabled home start up in auto in case it was this and have tried an old mapsettings.cfg file with no sucess.

Seems to happen as soon as the computer connection is made.

Any ideas or do i just put up with it.

cheers

Jez.

I would suspect the Read-only Attribute on the MapSettings.cfg File.

You don't say which Device you have. Whether the Map is on Internal Memory, or an SD Card. Smile

If SD Card try the Write Protect Switch on the side.

sorry that was a bit redundant Very Happy

It's a 520T using the internal memory.

My wifes TT one XL does not do this.

ta.

edit : on the cfg file the properties/details/ attributes show A, but I don't know what this means? this is also the same on the wifes so I guess i'm looking at the wrong thing.

I have also found poi sounds defaulting to "bell 1". Even if just connecting to Tomtom home to update the fast-fix info. I dont know why this happens, but very anoying. I should also mention my unit is a TT one new edition.

I questioned TomTom support about this exact same issue (on a TomTom One V2 and a Go 720) here is the reply I got:

Quote:
Dear xxxx,

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support with regards to your POI warning sounds.

Unfortunately this is an issue our technical staff are working on at present and no solution is currently available. When your device is connected to TomTom home it reverts to default settings causing this issue.

As soon as a solution is found it will be incorporated into future versions of TomTom software.

With Best Regards

Peter

This problem seems to have been around for a good while now, it's about time they got there fingers out.

There are a few threads on here about this. Some say save the MapSettings.cfg file whilst it is working. That has never worked on mine. There doesn't seem to be any fix at the moment. On mine it is only the first speed cams set on boing 5 or whatever it is(20-70 var and TBA) all the others set on a different warning stay as they were, specs, mob cams etc.

strange, it's my gatso's that's set to boing 5 that resets itself.

Think i'll try another sound and narrow it down.

The cfg file doesn't work on mine either as it resets before i even get near to copying it.

I've had this issue twice so far even though I connect a range of devices to HOME many times per day.

Can I ask if any of you are using our .ogg files? I ask as that is what I use and it may be a factor?

It happened to me a few times, but hasn't for several weeks, even months.

And yes, I do use the .ogg files.

I don't know if it applies to any of you, but a VERY important factor is to ensure you disconnect your device properly after connecting to Home.

When disconnecting from Home, always click on Device ... Disconnect Device, then click the OK button at bottom right, BUT do NOT disconnect right then - WAIT until your device reboots and asks if you wish to connect to computer, answer NO, then, when it finishes rebooting and shows the map screen, switch it off and disconnect.

Do/did that, beep 5 always resets to bell 1. No ogg files used.

I found all my POI warnings had disappeared this morning, after being connected to Home yesterday. This is the third time this has happened to me.

I think there's a lot of sense in what Dennis says. After the second time it happened to me (a few months ago) I made sure I was switching the device off - AFTER disconecting from Home and allowing it to reboot to show the maps - and then switching off and disconecting.

But yesterday, idiot that I am, I got impatient and took the 'short cut' and disconnected without going through the unit close down procedure. Seems more than a coincidence that I have now lost all my warnings. Could kick myself - and now have to wait until I get home to reinstall the MapSettings.cfg file.
