On the one hand, I've been offered a brand spanking new, sealed, wrapped ONE v3 (UK/Ireland) whilst, on the other hand, I've also been offered a GO720 (Western Europe v710, purchased November 2007).

Bearing in mind that both are available to me for the same price and from a reputable source, I was hoping that somebody might be able to help make the choice.

I've had a look on the TT site, done a comparison and either one would fulfil my needs

The problem is that I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure and I just don't know which one to go for.

Please help an indecisive numpty out of a predicament

As it will be a One Third Edition this is a real no brainer question (no offence intended Wink ) - the 720 is a far more capable machine, not just because of the maps, but it offers the ability for hands free and mp3 player, FM transmission, Bluetooth HiFi audio output and the all important SD card slot - oh and the menu works without needing to "Hack"the device.
It should also also offer an easier path upgrade to the new software version as running on the x30 devices when released, although to get the true benefit will require a map purchase, the 720 should offer this option, I very much doubt the One Third edition will perform the same way - Mike

Thanks, Mike.

No brainer suits me fine Laughing

I wasn't sure whether the fact that one would be brand new compared with a 5 month old used unit might sway the decision.

Y'know what curiouses me Mike? He gets a used 720 and installs TT Home on his computer for the first time, then registers his 720 at TomTom with an email address, again for the first time. Will he get Latest Map Guarantee? I suppose it's a bit much to ask for, but how does Home or TT know to refuse it? Might it look like a brand new purchase?

Device serial number/ Device Code will give this away, so TomTom Home won't offer a free upgrade due to a transfer of ownership, if it did I would be running an 80's version of "Swap Shop" - Mike

Depends if the orginal owner connected it to his computer! If he didn't then he might get away with it! Not latest map because i believe that works from the first time you turn it on! check with seller to see if hes ever connected it to his pc! if not then try registering it youself and no harm in trying the latest map!

But yeah 720 much better unit!

Good thinking!

I'm sure the current owner will have connected it and downloaded what he could, but I'll ask anyway

Thank you all for your input

The GO720 arrived today and it's in such good condition that it looks like a new unit.

I think you all helped me make the right choice and all I have to do now is find the "would you like me to make coffee when we get there?" option in the menu

It is probably one of DennisN's rejects! Laughing

You better start ordering another one now if you find them as good as he did! Wink

They go back to the retailer, don't they, to pay for his next faulty unit acquisition? Wink

Not only that - remember, when I take mine back, they give me a credit for what I paid, then re-charge me the latest, now reduced price. Actually, I think next time they'll be paying me to take a brand new one off their hands!! Last time I ended up with £50 worth of Halfords vouchers. Rolling Eyes
