lost postcode search on i3

Hoping someone can help here, i have had an i3 for over a year now, got sick of the nag screen telling me to update my map, so i managed to source a map
loaded it up ok but now when i start up the unit i get a message, "

please load the provided PC software to load maps containing turn by turn route information"
a press of the wheel gets the unit up and running, however when i go to "address" section , i select england and then i get "select city"

not "select city or postcode"

so i cant search for a postcode address, however i can use with an address only with house number,

Tried resetting the unit with the three buttons pressed, but this does not alter this problem

anyone had this or know of a cure?

You appear to have loaded a pirate map (I assume that's what "source a map" and the means??) which doesn't support Post Code Searches.
