TOMTOM GO 520 + Map Western_and_Central_Europe

Hello.
A friend of mine just gave me a DVD with the Western_and_Central_Europe map. After I installed them on my 2 GB SD card I expected the map to appear in my TOMTOM GO 520 - but it didn't

Any idea why?

Tom Tom maps are linked to the individual device by Tom Tom when you purchase them

I suspect the DVD your friend gave you is a copy of his or somebody else's map which is why it will not work

TomTom spend an awful lot of time and effort trying to STOP people doing just that. It's called software piracy.

You might mention to your mate that if he gives it to anyone else and they DO manage to crack the protection system, then the map will be linked to THEIR machine now, and HE won't be able to update it or re-install it if he has a problem or crash.
