I have asked the question Andy.
One thing I notice is that I recently reported the change of TOLL status on the Forth and Tay road bridges and they still have not been changed by the Map Share downloads. I can't believe that I am the only person to report this. I do have my prefs set to accept changes by 'many'. |

I don't think "Toll" status is one of the things that can be changed via Mapshare in its present form, only reported.
On v7 maps and software, only the things on page 1 of the corrections pages can actually be altered on the map (i.e. block a road in one or both directions, change a road's name and add or edit a built-in POI).
Everything else is just treated as a report for possible future inclusion in a new map version (for you to buy).
On the new v8 maps you can also change the road speed limit in sections, which at least shows they are trying to widen MapShare's usefulness. |

Is it of any significance that (so far as I'm aware) my 99999 corrections do not include a single POI? I do not accept any at all, I do not have any at all selected, I do not submit any at all. Zilch. _________________ Dennis

Probably not, assuming the counter is just broken.
Any reason why you don't have any POIs selected. Even if you don't use them, isn't the spirit of adventure enough?
Would be interesting to see what happened if you made sure your corrections were right up to date, then ticked all the boxes and updated again.... |

Andy, remember back a week or so ago that I pointed you to a link where I reported finding tmp files for MapPatches and a poi patch for March 16th? I think you said you have some software that cleans the tmp folder automatically so you couldn't tell but, perhaps, some other poster here can check his (or her) folder today and see whether there is a file for poi's dated today (or yesterday).
The link is here: http://tomtomforums.com/showthread.php?t=8583 if anybody cares to check it out. |

The link is here: http://tomtomforums.com/showthread.php?t=8583 if anybody cares to check it out. | I have mapshared two devices this morning and have two files, one timed 09:55, next timed 10:05 ... (the third device said I wasn't connected to the internet, then said there weren't any corrections available).
TomTomMapPatches41 = 3329KB (presumably the GO920 as I did that one first)
TomTomMapPatches42 = 3138KB (GO720).
I don't see anything about POI.
Andy - why would I want to have TomTom's POIs. I suppose spirit of adventure might be it - boldly go where nobody else has ever been before? I'm already doing this with their old cameras on #6. _________________ Dennis

dhn, just did a little Mapshare download here at work and I have a "TomTomMapPatches" file but no TomTompoipatch file, so no POI downloads for me this time but as I say, they might have happened yesterday at home.
Did anyone else who got a big download yesterday get a 'TomTompoipatch' file in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp? |

Well, I would suspect that if, indeed, there existed new poi's, that the software developers would NOT have changed the code to rename the poi patch to anything different than it is (was); hence, I guess poi updates have---for the present, anyway---gone the way of the Dodo bird.
Thanks for checking. |

I do get very small updates each time I connect, but I put that down to them adding small changes, maybe not?
I received 8 MapPatches
5.5MB, 5.6MB (after I turned on more POIs),32KB,16KB,4KB,4KB,4KB, then later in the day 116KB |

Same here.
I always get tiny extra downloads if I update after more than a few minutes. |
