I have a Nuvi 270 which has UK, Europe & USA maps installed.
I have only ever used it in the UK and I am about to take it with me
on holiday to the USA.
Could anyone who has used this device in the USA let me know if
it's going to be possible to enter USA zip codes to find destinations
in a similar way we enter post codes in the UK.

Channelman,
I also have a nivi 270 and after reading your message tried to find
where to enter a zipcode. No luck. Where do you enter your post code?
I would think that is where the zipcode would also be entered.
If you want to try a zipcode try 19966 which is Millsboro, Delaware

Thanks Crabby. Assuming your 270 is an American one then it looks
like a "NO".
For the UK (and Europe), after entering the Country, the next screen
asks for Spell City/Post Code. But when I enter United States
it says Spell State/Province.
I was hoping it might work differently in the US but presumably you
have to enter the Full Address and Number.
Thx again for your reply,

The PostCodes only work for the UK and (i believe) Holland. |

I believe that the answer is no and the reason is that a USA zip code covers a much larger area than a UK post code. |

Hi,
I took my I3 to the USA last summer after I bought USA maps on SD card. I was expecting to use Zip codes instead of PostCodes, but as the previous poster says, Zip Codes cover a much larger area and are next to useless for SatNav. So, say you want to get to:
Staybridge Suites Hotel
1350 HUNTINGTON AVE.
SAN BRUNO, CA 94066
UNITED STATES
(I actually stayed here, and used my I3 to get from the airport!). In the UK, you expect to enter CAlifornia, 94066, 1350 and hey presto. In the States, you go for California, SAN BRUNO, Huntington Avenue, 1350. So what you need is the State, City (this is the main difference) and street name/number. Using this, the I3 never let me down. _________________ Garmin I3 October 2006

Thanks for all your replies.
I'll just have to accept that I will have to enter the full address.
Cheers,
