|
|
From a sat-nav novice, using a Garmin nuvi 200W.
Can anyone please advise whether it's possible to have POI categories grouped under a "master" category, similar to a folder structure on a PC ??
What I have in mind is, instead of having all categories displayed under "Custom POI's", to have, say, "Stores" as a major category and when this is touched, to display all the different types of store (i.e. Supermarkets, Electrical, DIY and so on). If "Electrical" is then touched, only stores like Comet, PC World etc. would be displayed.
This would save a lot of scrolling compared to immediately displaying "Currys", "Comet", "B&Q", "John Lewis", "Tesco" etc. etc.
Regards,
Alec. |

yes - just put the csv / bmp files into a folder on your pc and point poiloader to the 'root'
it will automatically look for sub-folders and use these as 'categories' under 'custom pois'
bet you never thought it'd be that simple, did you?!

Tip:
Don't put any numbers in the folder names and don't use any words that might be associated with Speed Cameras such as GATSO, Mobile, RedLight etc otherwise it'll set the folder up as it they are speed camera with proximity alerts.
2 problems in the past were "Q8 petrol" which alerted if you went near one over 8 mph and T-Mobile which alerted you to stores as if they were Mobile cameras. Oh and one member put his POIs in folders numbered 1, 2, and 3 and the POIs alerted at 1 mph, 2 mph and 3 mph respectively.... |

Many thanks MaFt and PaulB2005 !!
You're right, MaFt. That's just too easy !! As an IT tech-head for 32 years, I couldn't believe it could be that simple.
I'll make sure to avoid all the pitfalls you've pointed out, PaulB2005 .....

Seems like it can only handle one level of sub-directories, but that's still pretty handy.
