|
|
Hi there
I'm so sorry if this has asked before but i'm drowning under info
I have recently got a nuvi 250 and we are off on our hols to Scotland on friday. I was hoping that "maybe" it was possible to download a list of lpg garages in the uk rather than trawling through paper.
My questions are
Is this possible, is there such a list, and if possible and there is a list could someone explain how to do it?
I know it's a bit ask but would really appreciate if anyone can help (before my hubby starts hollering at spending all that money |

Hi and welcome.
We have many lists of such places (Supermarkets, Shops, Train Stations etc) which are called Points Of Interest or POIs.
These can be downloaded from here and easily loaded to a Garmin Nuvi using a free program called POILoader.
They will then appear under Custom POIs and you can set them as a navigation point or even find the nearest one.
There are 1255 LPG stations listed under Fuel - LPG.
Goto the page i mentioned above and then change the Step 1 to "Other (CSV)", leave Step 2 as UK (don't click refresh) and then go down to Fuel, click the [+] and tick LPG. Scroll to the bottom and click Download to download the file. |

Hi there
Many thanks for you reply.
Do i download the file to my pc and then move over or do i have to download it straight to my garmin?
If it's straight to the garmin does it go into the POI file?

You need to download the file to your PC. Then unzip the file to get the contents. POIs consist of 2 files. One is a CSV file which contains the locations and the other is a BMP icon which appears on the screen. Both will have the same file name -i.e. LPG.csv and LPG.bmp
You need to install POILoader which you can download from Garmin here
Plug in your Nuvi and run POILoader tell it where the unzipped files are and it'll load them to your Nuvi.
Note every time you load new POIs it wipes out all the existing ones (not the Garmin built in ones) so you need to keep a folder of all your POIs and upload them all again each time one changes.
Have a go and if you get any problems let us know how far you got. |
