Thanks Andy, I thought mine worked ok out of the box with an earlier version 7 than 7.221 (I can't now remember which one) but I couldn't be sure. I did try a reset but not a return to factory settings. I don't think I'll bother as I'm sure I won't miss it.

Have a look in both map folders using Windows Explorer, do you have some files:

cspeech_GBR.dat
cspeech_IRL.dat

in both map folders? - Mike

Mike, are the cspeech files the same for Western Europe or are they just for GB & ROI please?

I am not too sure whether you can swap these files between map folders and/ or devices, when the 930 came out some users tried putting the cspeech files from 720 units but it didn't work - I think the files are specific to device and map type - Mike

Edited to add - Mike, our posts crossed over. I posted this one before I had the notification about your last post. Having reread yours, you mentioned

I only have Western Europe & Canary Islands. I don't think you meant that one.

I've answered my own question now. I have cspeech_AND, AUT, BEL, CHE, DEU, ESP, FRA, GBR, GIB, IRL, ITA, LIE, LUX, MCO, NLD, PRT, SMR, SWE, & VAT.

I have copied the same files from my original map, WE 705, and now it does ask me to state the city, and the speech icon isn't grey anymore. But it comes up with "City Not Recognised"

I've installed 7.481 on my 720T (more by accident - just clicked "Update" before I read the posts on here).
I can still use navigate to address without anything untoward happening and the soken address and spoken address (dialogue) both work fine. Does this mean that mine is working OK?
Are there any other problems with 7.481 that I should test for?

.......actually following on from my previous post the "Itinerary Planning" option seems to have disappeared. Is this correct and TomTom have removed the option or am I not looking hard enough?

I've got a brand new 920 (5 days into the 30 day latest-map-guarantee period).
Despite all the evidence that 7.481 maps are available, TomTom support are telling me that my 7.2 maps are the most recent available.

Funny that my 30 day period expired then the update appeared Evil or Very Mad

7.481 is the software version. The latest maps for the x20 series are 7.20.

I should add I am referring to the map update 715 - 720.

Have just reverted to 7.22 (Thanks to the advice found here, and to OldBoy for hosting the files).

Had most of the issues here, but didn't see the one that p!553d me off the most listed (may have missed it) - iPod support!

Before I upgraded to 4.8.1 I had no problems connecting my iPod through my 520 and out the radio. As soon as I upped to 4.8.0, and then to 4.8.1 the iPod would only play one chosen track repeatedly, no matter what settings you chose on either device!

The other issue I had was when I went to 4.8.1, TomTom HOME wouldn't allow me to 'Operate my GO' at all!

Spent, alltogether, about 8 hours emailing and phoning TomTom support and complaints about these and the other listed issues. Although I got someone to admit that they are there - I didn't get one appology for it still being available!

Good news is that now I've gone back to 7.22 all is fine in fairy land once more!

I think that it's so bloody irresponsible of TomTom to introduce such bug ridden firmware onto the market - and to keep it there when they must have got such a backlash of complaints.
