Polstar pbt 648 GPS turned -off Can anyone HELP!

I foolishly took a working PBT-648 GPS receiver from Polstar and connected it to the Leadtek GPS monitoring software. I tried to switch the GPS receiver to the SiRF proptocol to see what would happen. Since then I can't communicate from the unit.

The bluetooth connection to the receiver is working fine but the GPS led on the unit does not come on. Its like i've turn the GPS portion of the Unit off and using the Leadtek software to switch the unit back to NMEA does not appear to work!

There are no obviously ways to reset the GPS receiver. I've tried leaveing the battery out overnight in an attempt to reset the unit but that has not worked.

Please has anyone got any suggestions or ideas?

You could try leaving the battery out for a few days. Lots of units have a keep-alive battery (usually just a capacitor) that maintains settings. This can take a few days to discharge.

Alternatively you could try other software (Winfast?) that should be able to communicate with SiRF protocol and allw you to re-set to NMEA.

After that - leave it alone I know - the temptation is just too much.

The usuall method I use to switch to and from SiRF mode is detailed in This Post, although if you have actually switched the receiver off I doubt it will help - Mike
