TomTom One V2 or V3? - & other questions

I am considering buying a TT One. However, I read here that the One V3 has no expandable memory which puts me off. I see that the V2 has an expandable SD slot and with the attractive price of SD cards I am wondering if I should get a V2 off eBay and add a big card. Does this make sense or is the V3 a big enough advance over the V2 to make this not an issue?

I initially just want UK coverage but it would be very useful if I could load up Europe when traveling on holiday. Would this be possible with a larger memory in a V2?

Also I want the most detailed maps available with the greatest coverage. Should I get the UK or the Europe one.? I don't want to get the Europe one and find the UK version maps are better.

I really like the idea of customising and adding extra features to the TT One. Is the V3 sufficiently large to do this?

Also does the V2 have the power connector coming off the bottom of the unit? My intension is to use a FlexMount cradle hard wired into the car.

Firstly, be VERY careful what terms you use to describe the different models, ESPECIALLY if you are thinking of buying off eBay.

The names of the models I believe you are considering are NOT "v2" and "v3".

The latest model with no SD card slot is the "ONE 3rd Edition"
The previous model was the "ONE New Edition", now referred to by TomTom as the "ONE Second Edition"

The "V" numbers are how the "Home" utility sees them and the third edition is actually a v5 or 6. The "New Edition" came in as both v2 and v3 and the One XL was read as v4 (and maybe 5).
So you may well not get what you expect!!

My advice would be to avoid the "3rd Edition". There are too many functions deliberately removed by TomTom to make it "the cheapest". (eg the "Manage POI" and "Itinerary Planning" menus/features).

UK and Europe maps now have the same level of detail of the UK.

What I mean by V2 is the silver slimline One with an SD slot. By V3 I mean the silver slimline One with no SD slot.

Is the "V2" more feature rich thn the "V3"?

So should I just buy a "V2" One instead of the currently sold Version 3 One?

If you can find one, you'll get better functionality, but the maps may not be as "up to date".
I don't know if you'll get a "latest map guarantee" with a New Edition
