Hi,
I have a Nuvi 670, I've just registered it with Garmin, so far so good.....
now I'm gonna ask some really stupid questions.

What is the reason for Unlocking the maps? I have entered the codes, and my maps are shown as being unlocked.
Am I supposed to see anything different on the unit? 'cos I don't!

I downloaded MapSource but of course it will not function as there are no MapSource products installed, even though the unit is connected to the PC. Whilst registering I was able to order a free V10 (Europe) update which will be posted to me. Will this work with the downloaded MapSource software?

Thanks in advance for the help.
Bob

You wouldn't see anything at all if they weren't unlocked - usually...

Thing is - it doesn't really do anything on the nuvi 6xx range. What usually happens is that you get a DVD for use with MapSource on your PC and when you copy maps to your GPS you need to unlock them. However you don't get the maps on DVD with your nuvi - so it's all a bit academic.

BUT when you get your update CD/DVD you will need the code as you will do the install from your PC. The entering of teh lock code on the Garmin site may be used by them to check if you are eligible for an upgrade (which you are!)

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
It's starting to make a little more sense now.
