Did you use Safely Remove Hardware before disconnecting? It's in the Sys Tray at the bottom of the Windows Screen.

Have you done a Full Backup of the Device?

Before you do anything else, do a Full Backup as instructed in #1 on the POI Page.

We just need a few more details.

Can you remember which Software and Map Versions you had on the Device?

It's important to know the Version numbers so that we can make the right suggestions.

Is HOME installed on your PC? Which Version?

First thing is to do the Full Backup, as mentioned above.

Then download V6.560 (it's the only Version I have for the ONE), from http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/oldboy/TomTomUpdates/index.html

Unzip this download to a Folder on your PC. Make the name easy to remember.

1. Connect the Device to the PC and if HOME starts turn it off.
2. Open My Computer in Windows and turn on your TomTom device.
3. On your screen a new removable disk appears, this is your TomTom device, click on the disk to open it.
4. You will see a list of folders and a list of loose files
5. Delete all of the loose files. IMPORTANT: The folders with their content must NOT be deleted.
6. Copy the Files that you unzipped to the Device. This is to replace those that you have just deleted, so make sure that they are placed in the same place.
7. In the Sys Tray there is an Icon with the Name of Safely Remove Hardware. Left Click this Icon and a List of Devices will Open. One of them will be for the TomTom. Click this and the ONE should then start the Boot Up process.

If it still doesn't work, or you get an error message, do a Reset. Then Switch on again.

OldBoy's advice all depends on you being able to connect to the PC, NOT whether the device starts up on its own.

If you connect the USB cable to the PC and the One, can you connect to the PC? Usually you can, even if the device won't start normally.

If not, there is one fatal thing you might have done....
Did you use the correct 5 Volt charger designed for the TomTom?
If you accidentally use a 12 Volt adapter, you will completely fry your unit (often beyond any economical repair), but the green light will still work....

If the SD Card is put in a Card Reader, can you view the Card with Explorer?

Going back to you first Post, you said that 'The power green light is on but the tt does not start'. Were you using it with a Power supply connected?

You say 'I can't connect to the PC, as it doesn't switch on'. How long are you holding the ON Button? The later versions required a longer hold so that it couldn't be turned on accidentally.

Same thing happened to me, I was updating a friends TT1 and I just unplugged it from tomtom home and it stopped worked seemingly you now have to go to the option of disconnect device or shut down Home before discoonecting the TT unit.

Luckily I backed it up so just reinstalled it.
