Hi

Bought a MIO Digi Walker C220 in geece because i could not buy a satnav in the uk with good greek mapping. anyway liked it so much that i want to use it in the uk. So i bought GENUINE maps for the uk thinking they would work but the unit keeps telling me they are locked.

Contacted Mio via e-mail, no help what so ever, just sugested that i go back go the dealer (in greece).

Is there a way of unlocking the mio or the maps?
Or can i change the firmware to uk firmware to allow maps to work?

Odd. They should work and it shoudn't make a difference if your unit was bought in Greece.

Where did you buy the maps from? If you bought them on an unbranded (non Mio) SD card then they won't work - they are probably copied and the security checking features on the device will prevent you from using them.

These are the maps you need:

Make sure you have the PNA/PND version and not the PDA version.

If you have these maps they should work from the SD card irrespective of the device firmware.

If you bought the PDA version by mistake, and can't get a refund, then apart from selling them on eBay there are workarounds.

Although I don't know for sure the discussion of these workarounds possibly wouldn't be acceptable in this forum because they can be used to allow people to use unlicensed maps. Technically even if you have a legally purchased PDA version of the maps it probably won't be licensed for use on PNAs/PNDs like the C220.

Gareth.
