Iam using my laptop on ram mounts in my car running memory map which GPS antenna is best needs to plug in to usb.

If your laptop has bluetooth, could it also be worth considering a bluetooth GPS receiver?

This could then be placed more flexibly within your car and without a bulky cable attaching it to your laptop
