Hi I have been using Tom Tom Navigator 6 for many months now without any problem. But recently (in the last few weeks?) it will no longer connect to Tomtom Traffic (using the Orange network)
I just get the following message:-
"an error occurred on your tomtom device please try again"
After searching the web for answers I have logged into TomTom Plus Services online and confirmed that the userid and password on my HTC also matches the online one.
Tomtom itself and the GPS etc all work fine but just not Traffic
Does anyone else have any experience of this please? Thanks

I forgot to say that I am running Navigator V6.010 (7720) with map V660.1219 and GPS driver 1.20 on my HTC TYTN2 on the Orange network.

I don't use trafiic but I would suspect:
1.TomTom account problem (but I get an 'expired message' when I tried after my free trial
2.Your Orange wap/wep settings-is it all the time, have you moved to another 'cell' to find out if Orange eauipment OK
3.Orange Firewall
4.Your Firewall
5.Try a reinstall of TomTom
Good Luck

See if you can still use any of the other free "Plus" services such as the weather or buddies, at least this will prove the settings on the phone are correct and you will have established the problem is with TomTom for the subscription Traffic service - Mike |

hi, thank you both for replies, by some miracle it now appears to be working again.
I downloaded TomTom Home (Even though I really dont see the point of this overblown software!) - I checked my login online already (Also used for TT Traffic) and this matched the one on my device.
I eventually noticed that TT Home used a unique device code to connect to my device - this was the correct code but on my device it contained a space. I changed this on my remote login and TT Home and it all worked !
What I dont get is that it has been working ok for about a year before this!

I've had lots of problems getting traffic to work on the Orange network, I think it was down to an imposed "parental control" feature called Orange Guard. I found a error log file on the root directory of the TT storaage card that indicated that the GPRS connection was refused because the URL was blocked by Orange Guard. I reconfigured my default network connection to use WAP instead of GPRS, and all the problems went away. |
