Hi
I need to go to Luxenbourg tomorrow and would like to know how to enter my destination, it is in an industrial estate and has no road name but does have what looks like an area code of 1 letter and 4 digits, how do i enter this as post codes are only excepted in the UK and Netherlands?
Its easy to find the local town but thats not what i need.
Thanks for any info or suggestions?

No, it won't do the code and if there's no street name that's a bummer!
Can you see the place by zooming on the map, or do you not know where it is? If you can see it on the map, it will be easy to do Navigate to point on map.
Why not publish the address here for everybody to have a go at?
Google the name of the company (if it's a company, or maybe even the industrial estate) hoping that'll give you a map display then navigate to point on map? _________________ Dennis

Hi DennisN
Thanks for your thoughts
The address is
Zone Industrielle Riedgen
Technical Center, B.P. 93
L-3401 Dudelange
Luxembourg
The reason for purchasing a satnav was mainly because i sometimes travel abroad and have to find my own way, which often causes problems when going somewhere new in a foreign country, i was hoping the satnav would solve this, is there no simple way to use an equivalent to our post code as most countries seem to have some sort of numbering system?
Thanks

Typing Zone Industrielle Riedgen into Google Maps shows an industrial estate with 2 or 3 roads.

I believe that with the exception of the UK and one other country (can't remember which) the post code thing isn't as detailed as ours. For example in the UK a post code will get you within the right road, but in other countries the Post Code might cover an entire town!
The best i can think of is to put 49.485106,6.113119 into your TT as a POI. Not exactly sure how but someone will advise. This will get you to the Industrial Estate which normally have huge maps once you get there. |

Hi
Thanks for response, entered these coordinates as a destination, then saved as a favourite, should then be easy to track once i land at the airport.
Looking in Google maps the company name comes up as correct so hopefully this will work, will let you know when i return (as long as i dont get lost!)
Many thanks

GRRRR!! This was a really juicy enquiry and I had to go and get called out before I had finished my reply. If only I'd had time I could have made a name for myself. As it is, Paul and Andy came up to the mark. Actually, it's a perfect example of why questions should be posted up on the forum - there's usually somebody around with both the knowledge and the time to help out.
Paul, for info - the other post code country on TomTom devices is Holland. _________________ Dennis

Thanks everyone
Using the co ordinates from google maps the tomtom took me to exactly where i wanted to be.
Is this the best method to use for most countries whose address includes some form of post code? or if i have at least a road name then i guess this should be sufficient.
Thanks again

Post Codes only work for UK and Holland. Anywhere else, you have to follow the guidance offered by the above gurus. You did pretty well with that. Town and Street name is the normal method outside UK and Holland.
(Footnote - The poor guy would still be in UK if he'd tried asking TomTom!) _________________ Dennis
