As i have bought the new UK map about 3 months ago, i was backing up with TT Home then and as they overwrite each other now i have lost the origional map that was on the 710 (W+CE). Is there any way to get it back(I have the product code) as i deleted it from the unit so i could fit the UK map. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Had you done an Explorer Backup before that? Or a Backup with HOME 1.xxx? _________________ Richard

I did a back-up with HOME 1.xxx but when i updated to 2.1 it asked me to overwrite 1.xxx and i said yes. Then when i done a back-up it overwrited the one with my EU map in it. No i did'nt back-up with explorer back then so any other advice would be great. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

IIRC HOME1 and HOME2 saves their Files in different places.
HOME1 stored it's Backups, by default, in My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Backup
HOME2 stores it's Backup in Document and Settings\Owner\My Documents\TomTom HOME\Backup
Might be worth a search.
That's if you didn't change them. _________________ Richard

I must have somehow deleted or copied over the Home1 backed up with Home2. I have nothing on my computer with Home1 anymore, not even any back-ups. Is there any way of retrieving it from TT with the product code as i do not have it on my Computer anywhere.
I was going to France in April-May for 2 weeks for a drive with some friends and was'nt wanting to buy a WE map for the sake of 2 weeks but it may be looking that way. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

I got my reply from TT and whatever i do it is going to cost me money. these are my options:
1: I send my SD card back to them to re-istall the origional map which will cost me 50 euro's(Quoted from TT).
2: Buy a new map from TT which will cost around £40(Cant remember).
I cant say i am surprised at their reply but i would have thought that the price of re-installing an old map would be alot cheaper than buying a new map.
This is the result of not backing up properly with windows explorer. . If only what i know now i knew then it would be a different story. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

TomTom seem to have a change of heart. They have said it has been a miscommunication about the back-ups and if i send them my product code and it is correct they will make plans for me to send my SD card to them and they will re-install the map under warranty.
I have emailed TT twice today about this matter and i have had a reply within 20 minutes of each e-mail. I always thought it would take about 48 hours for a reply. Has anyone else had such a rapid response.
Should say that i am updating the origional question everytime, not a new e-mail. Does this make a difference. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)
