I am thinking of buying my wife a Go 520 for her birthday but we are emigrating to Canada in the summer. If I buy it here in the UK will I be able to upgrade the maps to the Canadian ones?
I would like her to be able to get to know how to use it here in the UK which is the reason for buying a UK model.
Cheers

If you mean a free upgrade, no. You will have to purchase a new set of USA_Canada maps. These are 70 Pounds, but are half price till the end of January. (This from the TomTom website.)
I live in Toronto, and I just priced a 720 online (the 520 isn't sold here) and it will cost you around $500 (with sales tax) or 250 Pounds. You do the math to see if it's worth your while. I don't know UK prices. I bet prices will be lower by the summer.
There will probably be a new model out by next summer anyway. |

If you shop around you can get the 520 for between £150 and £180 plus £35 for the USA and Canada maps and a 4GB SD card for £20ish works out cheaper than £250.
The 720 still does not have the Maps you want so you would still have to pay £35 extra, that is if you get in before the end of Jan. |

Prices in the US/Can just dropped; you can now get the 920 with all US/Can and EU maps preloaded for US$550 (or less if you shop around a bit). |
