USB powered Hub

Thought I'd use my USB powered hub not connected to a computer as a charger for my one XL. I guess it will take about 4 hours from flat, does anyone think it will cause any harm if it's left on charge longer, say over night.

Shouldn't do any damage at all.
The TT is designed to be safe when run/charged continuously from the cigarette lighter adapter when it's in the car,
and the USB hub should be able to continuously power any device that conforms to the USB specifications.

Can you think of any reason that my ONE XL doesn't charge from a Motorola V3 charger, which has a USB connector? When I had a Moto V3 it would charge directly from a standard USB cable, so I assumed the mains charger was providing the same output.

A USB port is limited to a load of 500mA.

If you plug your hub into a port the total load you can have is 500mA.

It doesn't matter how many ports there are on your hub the total load can only be 500mA exceding this usually causes the PC to shutdown to protect the MB.

If you want to check the power being used by any USB device go to device manager and check the properties of any given USB device. Click the Power tab and you'll get a figure for the power load for that device. Remember this is a cumlative figure so all the devices plugged in to your hub must not exceed 500mA.

The only way round this is to buy a powered hub (power is supplied from a transformer). With these type of hubs you can load 500mA to each port

A USB hub will be a slower than a dedicated charger but it'll charge fine. When I'm on trips, my laptop is my USB charge hub charging my PSP, Blackberry, GO and a half dozen other devices!
