Bought a one xl uk this morning. The tomtom software is installed on the internal memory, i want to insert a SD card to use mobilnova media player, got a 2gb card to put videos on. Trouble is when i insert the SD card it just reboots and comes up with the red x. I presume this is because it is trying to primary boot from the SD card but the software isnt on there. Surely it can continue to boot from the internal memory and just use the SD for extra space.
Any help would be appreciated |

No it can't....
The only TT models that can do this are the 520/720/920.
Everything previous to those will boot from the SD card if there is one in the slot, so the card has to have EVERYTHING on it. |

Cheers for the confirmation. Another quick question if you dont mind, theres .a booklet inside that says i can get free safety camera database, aswell as mapshare and latest maps etc, i followed the proceedure. I already had latest maps and mapshare was enabled, but there has been no sign of safety cameras being added to the unit. Not so important because i will get round to downloading and using the database from this site, but the tomtom one would be nice in the meantime |

They are usually installed on the unit when you buy it.
They are accessed from the "Plus Services" menu not the POI menu though.
I don't know if you get any updates at all without subscribing as I never really used them (having already got a subscription to the PGPSW ones). You might get ONE free update, so they are up to date when you buy the unit.
When I tried the ones I had ready-installed, they were pretty poor compared to the ones from here... |
