Is it possible to alter the way that the computer generated voice, in my case 'Kate', announces road numbers? Currently 'she' would announce A4541 as A Four Thousand and Five Hundred and Forty One whereas road numbers are usually read as A four five four one. This would make it easier to understand and, probably, safer for the driver as well. |

Geez! That's a little harsh, isn't it? "Rubbish"! I think not. Perhaps you don't remember back to the first speech emulators. They all sounded like Darth Vader on drugs. Bad drugs at that.
I concur that the TTS voice I use (Susan_us) doesn't pronounce numbers precisely the way one would do in common useage ('four-hundred-and seven' instead of 'four-oh-seven'). But rubbish? Wow! |

The trouble is... we humans aren't consistent:
A1 - "ay one"
A100 - "ay one hundred"
A101 - "ay one oh one"
A110 - "ay one ten"
A205 - "ay two oh five"
A220 - "ay two twenty" or "ay two two oh"
A4020 - "ay four oh two oh" or "ay forty twenty"
What's a poor (computer) girl to do? |
