Problem with home 2.1 and screen resolution

Hello to you all. It's a while since i've been around the forums, nice to see old familiars still around and lots of newer ones.
O.K, now for the problem. I started a ticket with TomTom support about an issue with home 2.1. Everytime i install it or start the app all i see are half of two boxes and about half an inch of the bottom two. I have tried every resolution setting on my system but still no go. TomTom offered a link to an install which i did after uninstalling the previous setup but still the problem persists.
My monitor is an HPL1906 running the recommended res of 1280 x 1024
I am more than likely missing something blatently obvious but any help will be appreciated.

Here we are now into December. Apparently this was passed on to second level for further troubleshooting.
Well they must have run out of bulletts, i havent heard a thing.
If anyone is interested i solved the problem myself by installing Vista instead of XP.
