Garmin World Compatibility?

Hi,

New to GPS, apart from the one in my car that is. I am looking at either the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx or GPSMAP 60CSx. The question I have is:

I am torn between which one to purchase, as I will be using the GPS both in the US and the UK and don't really understand the difference between the basemaps offered, ie. Some say you can use either but you will loose some of the features! What in this case is lost? Are the features lost that important considering the basemaps are pretty basic anyway?

Any help would be appreciated.

I bought my 60csx on eBay from USA.
It had the USA basemap.[Basemaps are only useful if you zoom out to 12 miles and beyond]

I have added CityNavigator Europe v9, MetroGuide USA, TOPO GB, and an European Basemap to the 2GB micro SD card. Basically the unit has options for viewing the individual map types, idividually!

No need to explain why this isn't so obvious then on the Garmin site, just look at the price comparison from US to UK...
