I live the UK and use Holux/TT2 for street navigation

I'm now interested in getting some topo s/w an would be pleased to get some advice on Memory-Map

I would use it for running, and things like total distance, average speed, distance climbed etc would be nice to have features. Can Memory-map help with this?

No. It's a topographical software, not a lap timer.

Try getting some other program for that - i believe there are some around that are specializing on logging rather than "orientating"

Memory Map offers a track record function which you can set by minimum time update interval and minimum distance update interval. If you go back to this track later it will show your speed during each interval and your average and maximum speed as well as your altitude. It will also show the total time and distance from the start for each point. You can look at the altitude profile for the track you recorded.

As this track data can be exported you could later analyse it using an alternative method

if you purchased a datalogging GPS such as Royalteks Bluetooth unit you coudl carry just this whilst running and then download ther log on your return for analysis using Memory-Map on your PC. It's also a simple process to archive each session's log file and these can be replayed through any current or forthcoming app that uses GPS data Thumbs Up

You could also achieve the same effect by buying a cheap Garmin Etrex or Geko 201 , and then downloading your tracklog to Memory-Map.

The advantage of the DataLogger is that you can play back the track to most gps enabled applications.

The advantage of the handheld GPS is that you can use it as intended ie a GPS.
