I am a retired Delphi programmer but I have decided that I would like to do some coding on the PPC. Can someone point me in the direction of compilers/books/tools which can be used to develope PPC apps.

Thanks

Roy

Hi Roy,

I’m not a developer myself, but I’d start by looking at the Microsoft Developer tools and resources website, here. Thumbs Up

Hi Roy,

I take it you are looking at using delphi 8 with its .net functionality? I am also interested in heading down this route but have made very little headway as the ms site just covers downloading ms products for development as opposed to third party ones.

I would be grateful if you could let me know how you get on.

Cheers

Ray

I have no experience with Windows development much less pocket pc but today I bought "Windows CE 3.0 Application Programming" by Nick Grattan and Marshall Brain. It only took me 5 minutes of skimming to find out why Magellan I won't be able to get the HID usb driver to do what I thought should be a snap. The book comes with the usual CD and claims that the CD has:

A full working copy of Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ and Microsoft eMbedded Visual Tools 3.o.

Microsoft Pocket PC SDK.

And all the source code examples in the book.

I'm not a Windows programmer but I have over 25 years experience in Unix system and applications programming and this book looks like the real thing. It's definitely worth the $50 I paid for it.

You can download Microsoft Embedded VB and Embedded C++ from MS - they are free to download. I use eVB which is a bit limiting but easy to use. Not suitable for anything complicated though!

Check out www.devbuzz.com for all sorts of PocketPC development stuff.
