Route planning ,help!!

Hello
Does anyone know how to alter the preffered speeds in tomtom2 so that when calculating a route it has a heavy bias towards motorways and "A" roads, I want to avoid "B" roads and little country lanes....

Ive tried altering the speeds(im not bothered about it messing up the estimated time of arrival)but it tends to increase the time it takes to work the route out to the point of not being practical.

can you please be more specific. Does it take too long to calculate or does TomTom come back saying it can't find a route?
