Are you surprised that tomtom`s clinical diagnosis and troubleshooting steps didnt help? Wait, didnt they suggest running the clear flash tool? Oh maybe that WAS the clinical diagnosis and troubleshooting support that you get from them! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Sorry if I'm being dense, but I've read the 3 pages of this topic and I'm still not sure which problem you have, spannersatcx
It's all got a bit confused with several different people's issues going on at once... |

As per the original topic: Quote: | Got a shock when I first passed a camera today, after updating to v7.210 all my warning sounds had reset to "Bell 1". | Whenever my 510 has been connected to TTHome (latest version) all speed camera warnings previously set at beep 5 get reset to bell 1? This happened after updating to app 7.161 and TThome 2.xx
I've reset them many times but after connecting and updating gpsquickfix they revert to Bell 1 which I don't prefer as a warning sound. Interestingly the specs cameras that are set at polite 2 stay at polite 2? |

Thanks for clarifying...
I still get that ocassionally, but have never quite tied down when or why it happens. It's not JUST when you connect to Home as it did it to me while I was on holiday, miles from a PC.
I now keep a backup copy of "MapSettings.cfg" on a memory stick that lives on my keyring, so I can put it back how it should be wherever I am! |

Looks like TomTom are washing their hands of it:
Quote: | Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
At TomTom, we can only officially support our own official software, however as the files that you have purchased are third party POI files, we cannot guarantee that the software will work with these POI files when you update your device.
We suggest that you check with PocketGPS to see if they have a fix for you regarding your issue.

That's because you asked the question in the wrong way....
You must have given them a chance to shift the blame by mentioning PGPSW. The point is that it is not the third-party POIs that are mis-behaving, only the TomTom's warning system for ANY POIs.
If you had just said you had created some POI categories on your machine and the warnings had been lost, they wouldn't have been able to wriggle out of it.
That's what happens, the warnings are lost on ALL POIs, even their own built-in ones. |

Looks like it, as they are blaming PGPSW:
Quote: | That website link is for POI's that you can create via the TomTom device and not third party POI's. Unfortunately, we have no control over how third party websites compile their POI's. With our latest software updates, it looks like that PocketGPS have not tested their POI's with the latest software.
I suggest that you try to reinstall your third party POI's, or restore your previous backups, if this does not work, it is up to PocketGPS to find a solution for you.

spannersatcx wrote: | is there any difference in the way an .ov2 file is made? or is an ov2 file an ov2 file no matter what? | There are several different types.
Up until this year all TT OV2 Files were type 0, 1, 2 or 3. Files from this site are Type 1, and will display correctly on a TT Device.
The OV2 Files that are created on the Devices themselves, using V6 and onward software, are of Type 100.
Don't ask me why TT saw fit to change it.
The Type Number determines how the Data is structured within the File. _________________ Richard
