2 new myguide 3100's 1 with sd card 1 without labelled 3110

I bought a 3100 on friday for myself .On box it says it has256mb memory amd it also came with a 250 mb sd card.I like it so much I have bought one today for my brother for xmas.However his box says 516mb internal memory and does not come with an sd card but sticker on box says 3110 .Also my flash memory has europe maps listed on it.His flash drive does not.Has anyone else come across this.I asume that you don't need the sd card in the sat nav for it to work?If not, why is supplied?
