Did you use TomTom Home softare on the PC to install the map? this software package deals with map activation, if the device is reporting the "No Map" screen it usually means the map isn't activated - Mike |

Just one other thought though, Have a read of This Thread which details using the clear flash tool set in order to activate a map, it sounds similar to your problem - Mike |

Map activation is handled automaticaly by TomTom Home you don't write anything down or put number in, have you tried the clear flash utility I linked to above? - Mike |

To be clear, when you say 'reinstalled', you used TTHome to do the installing, you did designate the sd card to install it to and my understanding is that certain models of tomtom require the operating system to be installed on the sd card where the map is located (the 720 I have doesn't have this requirement).
Anyway, things to check. |

I can't help wondering where this "SD card of v7 maps" came from.... |

Well the OP says he downloaded the maps, so I assume he has a 2Gb card kicking around on which to put them. Me, I have an 8Gb SDHC card. The maps came from TomTom and the card came from the USA, courtesy of Mike Barratt. _________________ Tim |

Humble apologies... I misread the original post. Thought it was an SD card purchased with maps on already. |
