Plugged in today and was offered version 2.1.1.106 to install.

I was using the previous version (2.1.0.92) and had mapshare working and had downloaded several map updates and poi updates.

The previous version (2.1.0.92) seemed to stop working a couple of days ago and the update screen stayed on for ages until it eventually said "your session has timed out".

Not having much luck re updates with this "new" version either Sad

I see you are using the One, I think there is still problems within the map version you have that is not allowing the MapShare function to work as it does on the Go720's

Re: New version of TT Home.
BE CAREFUL!

Not only backup your TT, but also backup your PC.

Having just been offered, downloaded and installed the latest version, first of all it said a file that was required is not yet available. So that to me means it is not going to function properly, so I might as well get rid of it.

So no problem thought I, I'll just do a system restore back to the previous version, er, restore worked okay but did not restore home back to the previous version, however the now the fun and games start.

M$ Add or remove programmes can't delete it for some particular reason (something to do with one of the files not being recognised).
And it's own Uninstaller would not work for the same reason.

Okay, again no problem, just re-Ghost the PC, (no problem)
However it then becomes impossible to do a TT Home restore because some of the files that have now been altered on the TT were altered with the newer version and the older version will not allow it to be restored.

Fortunately I still use the "OLD" TT backup program from-time-to-time and that let me restore the system.

However the fun "if you can call it that" does not stop there, as I have all these backups etc on my D: drive along with saved files from the TT, some of the altered files still exist and it then means finding those, deleting them and then replacing again from the TT to the PC (Maps, Voices etc)

However, back to the original new download.
I personally don't think the layout is a good as the previous version.

As I said previously I think your problem is the map version you are using with your TT One which is different to the map version being used on the 720, a few days ago TT made a new home version 2.1.0.92 available but my home version 2.0.0.370 wouldn't see that as an update, as I mentioned to Andy I think that was a home update for the TT One's using the v7 map update. Last night my home picked up the Home V2.1.106 and everything is still working correctly.
I think the problem lies in the fact that TT are running 2 separate update programs 1 for the TT One and 1 for the G520/720 and the home versions intended for the 720's are being picked up by you guys using the TT Ones.

Try seeing if you can revert back to the previous version that worked for you. v2.1.0.92 If you don't still have I did download it but never installed it
so could email it to you if you give me an email address.

Try this, with your 720 in it's cradle, turn it on and you should have Home start up.
Go to preferences, MapShare select POI categories, deselect all the POI's you don't want to update, it defaults to all. select Done.

The ones I'm using are:-
Sorted Numerically:
7310 Car repair/garage
7311 Petrol station
7321 Hospital/clinic
7322 Police station
7326 Pharmacy
7380 Railway station
9373 Doctor
9374 Dentist
9910 Car dealership

Go back to preferences, MapShare, remove corrections, tick the second option Remove all corrections made by others.
Select Done.

Go to File, Log out, turn off the Go720 wait a few seconds then shut down Home

Turn the Go back on let Home load select the device memory It should then go to the update screen and show both map and poi updates available select update.

From My Computer go to TomTom drive, Western_Europe open the map folder if it all worked you should see a number of CA****.ov2 files corresponding to the number you selected.

Also check that your Mapshare settings on your Go are the same as here.
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=60504&highlight=
in reply to Tims question.

I used this method earlier to reduce the number of Mapshare updates ie CA****.ov2 files from 68 to 9 in my map folder.

System Restore only works on the Registry, not installed programs.

And it's own Uninstaller would not work for the same reason.
That's because the Registry was reset to a time prior to that HOME being installed, so there is no reference to it.

One good reason why most users don't use HOME for Backups. Wink

I know it's a bit late now, but the better method would have been to Uninstall the HOME first, and then do a System Restore.

Yes I must admit it is pretty naff and takes far to long, it's much quicker just doing a copy (drag and drop) of the whole SD card.

I think I may of done something similar on those lines but the main problem came about because TT actually altered (updated) some of the saved files on the D: drive (which is not set for restore points as it is tooo big). Plus as you rightly say, restore operates the registry not the installed files.

But thanks for your replies, they are much appreciated.
However my faith in TT has now taken a BIG dive.

I get the CAxxxx.ov2 files but that is all.

I cannot view them anywhere on my 720, so it's all pointless.
