Is there any way to download your favourite POI's from the NUVI to the computer for backing up

The Nüvi makes a backup of your Favourites in \gpx\Current.gpx. You can just copy / drag-n-drop this file.

(When the unit boots, it scans its whole file system for .gpx files and adds any new entries it finds to its internal list. At this point, \gpx\current.gpx is considered an input file. Then it writes the new list to \gpx\current.gpx, overwriting its origninal contents.

BTW - It never deletes any entries from its internal list, but it does delete the files it read them from.

So to restore your favourites, just copy current.gpx back to the Nüvi.
